Yet, the picture of a young, nubile woman dating a seasoned man is far from uncommon.The cougar concept has been used in television shows, advertising, and film.The 2007 film Cougar Club was dedicated to the subject and, in spring 2009, TV Land aired a reality show called The Cougar where women would pick a date.For example, actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler caught a lot of public flak when she announced her engagement. In Great Britain, journalist Hanna Betts describes a puma as "a single woman in pursuit of a mature partner with experience under his belt." An example is PR executive Amanda Sheppard, who at 29 years old ensnared aging pop singer Bryan Ferry, 66.

By the same token, could a woman in her 60s still be a cougar if she wishes to date much younger men?
Or how about a woman who is 28 but seduces a 19 year old guy for a fling?
However a 48 year old woman dating a 32 year old man is most certainly one.
Ten years should be the minimum official age gap for all cougar-type relationships.
However, this gap should be moved to 15 years when the cougar in question is over age 50.
